At the beginning there were 6 participating bookstores, all Italian, and since then Maremagnum.com has only grown in importance and quality.

In 1701 the abbot and bibliophile Francesco Marucelli published the frontispiece of a universal bibliography he had in mind to publish: the MareMagnum omnium materiarum, in 111 folio volumes.
Maremagum.com is the continuation on the internet of Marucelli’s work.
