The Edoardo Kihlgren Opera Prima Award – an initiative of Amici di Edoardo ETS – has awarded three first works by young authors every year since 1997, involving high school students in selecting the winner. The objectives are to promote reading among young people and offer visibility to new authors.

With 600 readers per year between schools, Barrio’s jury and honorary jury, the Award has recognized authors such as Roberto Saviano, Silvia Avallone, Marco Missiroli, Jonathan Bazzi. Every year the students meet the finalists, encouraging a direct comparison between authors and readers. The godmother is Lella Costa, supported by Massimo Cirri.

The finalist books for 2025 are:

• La strangera by Marta Aidala, Guanda editions

• Le favole del comunismo by Anita Likmeta, Marsilio editions

• Mio padre sarà vita eterna ma mia madre non ci crede by Paolo Valoppi, Feltrinelli editions

BooktoMi takes care of the Social jury of the award.

In 2025, BooktoMi will be in charge of the Social jury of the award.

The goal is to open the doors to the greatest number of readers and expand the base of voters.

To become part of the BooktoMi social jury, simply send an email or a short video (to eventibooktomi@gmail.com) no later than May 15, 2025, indicating: Name, Surname, City and your ranking of preference for the three books.
